What to do after having a Tooth Extraction!

Once you have a tooth removed, please follow the steps below:

  • Limit exercise and take it easy.
  • Keep your head up straight to avoid excess bleeding.
  • Until the anaesthetic wears off, avoid eating or drinking hot foods and beverages, as you may accidentally burn yourself while still numb.
  • After 24 hours, rinse your mouth regularly with salt water rinses.
  • Continue to brush your teeth twice daily, being careful around the extraction area.
  • You can take painkillers, but avoid aspirin-based tablets because they thin the blood and may cause excessive bleeding.
  • If you remain in pain after a few days, schedule a dental appointment as you may have an infection (commonly known as dry socket).
