What are “All-in-4”, “All-on-4” dental implants, or “Teeth in a Day”?
This is designed for people who have no good teeth left and need them replaced with a fixed set of teeth. In many cases, we remove the remaining failing teeth, place implants, and fit a fixed bridge the same day.
How is it possible?
- You can treat just the upper teeth, the lower teeth, or both (both arches together is the most common approach).
- First, we carry out a thorough assessment to confirm this is right for you and discuss alternatives. A 3D scan is usually needed for proper planning (see 3D scans).
- On the day, remaining teeth are removed and implants are placed (commonly 6 in the upper jaw and 4 in the lower). If needed, we may use bone augmentation to support long-term stability.
- A fixed bridge is usually fitted later the same day, so you leave with teeth that don’t need to be removed like a denture.
Why should I go for All-in-4 / Teeth in a Day?
- It’s fast
- It’s comfortable compared with a denture
- It can make your smile look brand new
- It’s designed as a long-term solution
- High success rates with proper planning and aftercare
- No “learning curve” like dentures
Do you want to move away from — or avoid — wearing dentures? All-in-4 is often a strong option, but it’s not right for everyone. We’ll confirm what’s realistic for your mouth and your goals first.

The history
All-on-4 is a registered trademark of Nobel Biocare. The concept is to replace teeth using fewer implants than would normally be required. In particular:
- A minimum of 4 implants per arch. In real life, it’s common to use 6 in the upper jaw and 4 in the lower, because the upper bone is often softer.
- The back implants are angled forward (often around 30–45°). This can help engage stronger bone and reduce the need for major grafting in some cases.
- Where suitable, teeth can be fitted the same day (“Teeth in a Day”).
Aftercare
After treatment, many patients prefer a few days off work while they recover and adjust. That’s why Thursday or Friday is often a good choice.
For the first few months, we usually recommend a soft diet while the implants integrate (the bone fuses to the implants, which is what creates long-term strength). If you smoke, please tell us — it can affect healing and success.
Implants can still develop gum disease if they aren’t kept clean. You brush twice daily and clean between using floss or a water flosser. We show you the steps clearly and keep it simple.
The final fit
After healing (often many months), we fit the final, stronger bridge. This is fully custom-made to suit your bite and smile. We’ll advise the best material for you based on how you bite and how you use your teeth.
All-in-4 is technique-sensitive, so planning, experience, and follow-up care matter. We take the time to assess properly, explain options, and look after you after the surgery.
How much do All-in-4 dental implants cost?
We’ll confirm your exact plan and costs after your assessment (and scan if needed), because cases vary and not everyone is suitable for All-in-4.
Guide price: From £18,375 – £26,250 per jaw
We offer free consultations for dental implants. If a 3D scan is needed for planning, we’ll talk you through it (see 3D scans) and confirm costs before anything goes ahead.
If you’re comparing options, you may also find these helpful: dentures vs dental implants and different types of denture.
Is it worth it compared to dentures?
Plastic dentures sit on the gums. Because gums change shape over time, dentures can loosen and need relines or replacement. Some people also find dentures bulky, and don’t like removing them to clean or at night.
All-in-4 is designed to feel more like fixed teeth — so many patients find it more comfortable, more secure, and easier to live with day-to-day.

All-on-4 / All-in-4 FAQs
Is All-in-4 done in one day?
Often, yes — where suitable. Many patients have teeth removed, implants placed, and a fixed temporary bridge fitted the same day. We confirm suitability during your assessment.
How many implants do you use?
The concept is a minimum of 4 implants per arch. In practice, it’s common to use 6 in the upper jaw and 4 in the lower, depending on bone and bite.
Is it painful?
Most patients are surprised by how manageable it is. You can expect soreness and swelling for a few days, but we plan your pain relief and aftercare clearly. We also don’t rush — comfort and control come first.
Is it safe?
When planned properly with the right scans and aftercare, it’s a well-established approach. Suitability matters, so we assess carefully and discuss alternatives if needed.
Do I need a 3D scan?
Usually, yes. A 3D scan helps plan implant position safely and accurately. Learn more on our 3D scans page.
How long do All-on-4 implants last?
Implants are designed for long-term function, but longevity depends on bite, cleaning, smoking, and maintenance. Regular checks and good cleaning habits are essential.
What can I eat after treatment?
We normally recommend a soft diet for a healing period. This protects the implants while integration takes place.
What if I currently wear dentures?
Many patients move from dentures to a fixed implant bridge because it feels more secure and less bulky. We’ll compare options during your consultation.
How much does All-in-4 cost?
Costs vary by case and jaw. As a guide: From £18,375 – £26,250 per jaw. We’ll confirm a clear plan and costs after assessment.
Do you offer finance?
Yes — we can talk you through options (including up to 12-month finance) during your consultation.
If you’re not sure whether you need implants, dentures, or something else, start with booking online or sending a message.
