- Tooth Cleaning and Preparation — The tooth surface is gently cleaned and dried. No drilling, no injections, no removal of enamel whatsoever.
- Bonding Agent Applied — A small amount of dental-grade bonding agent is applied — the same type used in orthodontic bracket placement.
- Gem Placement — Your chosen gem is carefully positioned and secured. We take time to get the placement exactly right.
- Light Curing — A dental curing light hardens the resin in seconds — locking the gem firmly in place. Completely painless and takes only moments.
- Final Check and Aftercare — We check the gem is secure and polished neatly. You receive full written aftercare advice. Then go show it off.

Do tooth gems damage teeth or enamel?
When placed and removed correctly by a dentist, tooth gems do not damage enamel. We use dental bonding agent and composite resin — the same materials used daily in restorative dentistry. The risk of enamel damage is associated with improper DIY removal or non-dental adhesives.
Can tooth gems be removed?
Yes, completely. Removal takes a few minutes and leaves your tooth surface fully intact. We polish the tooth afterwards. Removal is £54 per gem — whether we placed it or it was placed elsewhere — and includes an enamel check. Never try to remove a gem yourself — this is the most common cause of enamel damage.
Can I have a tooth gem on a veneer or crown?
Possibly, but it requires a clinical assessment. Bonding agent adheres differently to ceramic, porcelain, and composite surfaces compared to natural enamel. We will assess this at your consultation at no extra charge.
Does the procedure hurt?
Not at all. There are no injections, no drilling, and no removal of tooth structure. Most patients describe it as similar to a routine check-up — perfectly comfortable. The whole process typically takes 15-20 minutes.
How do I clean my teeth with a tooth gem?
Exactly as normal — just be gentle around the gem. Use a soft toothbrush and avoid scrubbing directly on the gem. Continue flossing around the area. Avoid whitening toothpastes on or around the gem as abrasive particles can dull the sparkle. We give full written aftercare advice at every appointment.

"I started looking for a new dentist when I realised that my previous one was careless, as I got a root infection and a broken tooth shortly after visiting her. I asked around my friends for a good dentist, and they recommended The Dentist. I was told that this place charges more, but is very much worth it because they save teeth other dentists would rather pull.
The doctor did a thorough check up on my teeth and started the treatment. I've received a root canal and a tooth extraction of my broken tooth. I have decided to go ahead and get two tooth implants put in- one to replace the newly removed tooth, and the second to fill a gap from a tooth I had pulled 21 years ago.
So far I've had a bone graft and one of the implants fully carried out. I've also had a crown put in, and I'm currently due to have the second one put in soon.
I would highly recommend this dentist because they work to a high professional standard, carry out their work fast and thoroughly, with jewellery-like precision. Most importantly I feel like I have their complete attention and care, which is something I found my past dentists to be lacking, as they often seemed to be distracted.
Even if you have a poor understanding of English, they do a great job of explaining everything. I've not had any complications during my treatment, and I am very happy. The doctor and the nurse are brilliant. I would highly recommend using this practice."

I called the Dentist at the practice on Boxing Day in December 2023. I was extremely nervous about attending their practice due to a poor service I received at a different dentist on the Yew Tree, West Bromwich.
I was asked to attend their surgery as they suspected I needed a root canal procedure.
The Dentist put my mind at ease and agreed to inform me fully of the procedure. He had full faith in his ability to deliver a service with no pain to be experienced whatsoever.
I did not believe him but I knew I needed the surgery.
He proved me wrong and I had the best experience at a Dentist surgery ever.
I experienced no pain and no discomfort at all. This was a massive relief for me.
The procedure was expensive however it was what I expected due to the Christmas holidays and also having neglected my dental hygiene for years and not having seen a Dentist regularly.
They had me attend approximately 5-6 times over 2-3 months in order to finish the procedure properly with a crown and fitting.
The staff are friendly and very well trained.
I am extremely grateful for their service and I recommend them to all friends and family.

During the consultant the dentist and staff made me felt at ease. Went through each step and then went through treatment options. Needed to have the tooth removed. The nurse and dentist were amazing. Comforted me and also allowed to have my mum in the room with me. They went through the procedure with my and then my after care afterwards. I would definitely recommend to anywho is nervous about going to the dentist like me.
