We are proud of our reputation for pain free extractions.

Yes, the injections do sting, like normal injections, and we do use topical spray / gel to numb the area before injections, but once it is numb, you won’t feel anything.

If you do, we always say just raise your left arm and we promise to stop straight away. Then we will top up the freeze.

You’ll be FINE !

]We use experience to tell which teeth will be best to take out straight away and which will need antibiotics first. Our personal experience is that we take out a lot of teeth that other dentists have prescribed antibiotics for.

We feel that it’s always best to treat the source of the problem … i.e. take out the tooth, rather than give antibiotics which take a few days to kick in and leave you in pain in the meantime.

We will always have this discussion with you when we see you. But be rest assured, we will do the option that is in your best interests and which meets your wants and desires.

One of our most common treatments on the emergency service is taking out wisdom teeth that your own dentist has referred you to the hospital for. Often people are on the waiting list for the hospital, but are in too much pain to wait, and cannot get an appointment sooner.

Come to us and let us assess the tooth. More than 95% of the times we assess that we can take it out and we do so there and then. If we can’t do it, then we will be upfront and honest and let you know there and then. Such situations are usually if the tooth is buried deep within the jaw, and that is usually not associated with pain. It can be helpful, if you have an X-ray, to email this to us and we can give you an opinion of the X-ray and let you know (as best we can) the chances of us being able to do it even before you see us.

We are here to help.

If you really dislike going to the dentist, usually due to bad experiences in the past, or you have inherited your nervousness from others or you feel embarrassed about your smile, don’t worry – you are certainly not alone! You do not have to ignore the reminder texts telling you that you are overdue a full checkup. Especially when we will help you get through it with your peace of mind. We do understand that people get nervous when they come for any type of treatment and this is why we take it into fair consideration. Please don’t hide away ! We shall do whatever we can to make your experience as calm as possible.

Sometimes you may feel embarrassed about being nervous but there is no need. We all feel a little nervous at times. There are many different techniques that can we use to help nervous patients. From using topical anaesthetics to psychological methods that do not carry any side effects! Psychological methods would include listening to your favourite music whilst you get the treatment done. You can bring your own earphones so that you listen to music. With children, what works well is ‘Show, Tell, Do’ – the dentist shows and explains to you what equipment will be used before carrying out any treatment so that it removes the fear of the unknown. For others ‘ignorance is bliss’ applies. Talk to us and we adapt our style to suit you. That’s the wonder of personalise care.

We find that the above negates the need for sedation, so we don’t offer it. Even people who have had sedation in the past come to us and find themselves cured. If you don’t believe us, try us. Only twice in 5 years have we had to then refer someone for sedation, and in both cases it was patient’s preference because they were too nervous to even try our methods.
