Superglue vs RelyX for Veneers: What’s the Best Choice for a Lasting Smile?

When it comes to cosmetic veneers, choosing the right bonding agent is critical for both safety and long-lasting results. In this blog post, we compare Superglue and RelyX—two substances that have been discussed in the context of veneer treatment. At The Dentist West Midlands, we prioritise precision and patient safety, ensuring that every step of our cosmetic dentistry veneers process meets the highest standards.
Why Choosing the Right Bonding Agent Matters
When undergoing a veneer treatment or receiving dental veneers, the material used to bond the veneer to your tooth plays a crucial role. Incorrect bonding agents can lead to several issues such as:
- Gum irritation: Excess adhesive left at the gum line can irritate and inflame the gums.
- Decay: Residual glue can trap bacteria, leading to decay.
- Tooth loss: Improper adhesion may compromise the integrity of the tooth.
These risks underscore why we always opt for a dental-grade bonding agent like RelyX instead of generic options like Superglue.

Our Precision Process for Cosmetic Veneers
At The Dentist West Midlands, we take pride in our meticulous process that is specifically designed for cosmetic dentistry veneers:
- Clean:
We begin by thoroughly cleaning the tooth and veneer surfaces to ensure there is no interference with adhesion. A clean surface is essential for effective bonding during veneer treatment. - Bond Tooth and Veneer:
Our bonding process is carried out with great care so that both the tooth and the cosmetic veneer are aligned perfectly. This precise method supports the long-term durability of dental veneers. - Remove Excess:
Removing any excess bonding agent is a critical step. Leftover adhesive not only creates a poor aesthetic outcome (such as a visible line or irritated gums) but can also lead to decay and even tooth loss. Our careful technique ensures that you receive the best possible result.
Superglue vs RelyX: What’s the Difference?
Superglue
- Cons:
- Not intended for dental use, which means it can be harmful if used in the mouth.
- Lacks the precision required for secure dental veneers.
- Increased risk of gum irritation, decay, and even tooth loss due to residual glue.
RelyX
- Pros:
- A high-quality, dental-grade bonding agent designed for cosmetic veneers and veneer treatment.
- Provides excellent adhesion and durability, ensuring your dental veneers are securely bonded.
- Its formulation allows for precise application, minimising the risk of excess material.
- Cons:
- Generally more expensive than generic adhesives.
- Requires a skilled practitioner to apply correctly.
Why Our Approach Matters for You
In our previous blog Can I Superglue My Veneer On?, we explained the dangers of using non-dental adhesives for veneer treatment. That discussion resonated with our audience and highlighted the importance of proper bonding. This post further emphasises our commitment to quality by comparing Superglue and RelyX, and by detailing our step-by-step process which ensures that every cosmetic veneer application is safe, effective, and long-lasting.

Final Thoughts
When it comes to cosmetic veneers and veneer treatment, the choice of bonding agent can make all the difference. I've been going to this dentist for almost a year now initially it was just to clean my teeth and do regular check ups and I was really happy with how kind everyone was and the quality of the treatments. After a while I wanted to do teeth whitening but didn't know anything about it or the process. I had a consultation with them and they ran through the treatment, cost and everything I needed to know. After a few weeks of using the gels my teeth were considerably whiter and I was receiving compliments from my family and friends on my smile. After a while they suggested I consider veneers for two pegs on the top of my teeth, they also do a monthly instalment and after a few weeks considering it I decided to do it and was very happy with the results. It looks very natural and matches my teeth perfectly and made me a lot more confident with my smile and was getting compliments from a lot of people shortly after getting it done. Would definitely recommend coming here everyone is very welcoming, friendly and professional and I've never had any complaints with any of the treatments

After visiting Veneers, Emergency Center, i can tell the whole world how proud i finally am to visit a professional dentist that actually checks everything you ask them too and also takes the time to sit down and go through the good and bad things associated with the problem you address them with. I have went to many dentists and i have struggled to find a dentist that actually does there career properly, and actually shows there experience aswell as there degree in action. I had a pain in my right side of my mouth everytime i chewed at the back but my tooth was not sensitive, i approached a dentist that is apart of NHS and when i told him the problem, he didnt seem so reassuring he understood what i was getting at, so we did the X-ray and he didnt even catch all of the tooth he missed the tooth i assumed would be the problem (wisdom tooth), for me i could not stay at that dentist, that is basics for a dentist to conduct a proffesional examination, especially if you are paying for it out of pocket. Everything changed when i went to Veneers, Emergency Centre, i explained my problem to the dentist and he immediatly had equipment that certainly is more up to date then any dentist i have seen, he has 2 forms of x ray machines that catches all of your teeth without any problmes at all. He then checked my teeth and immediatly found the problem under 5mins of seeing him, which he immediatly treated on the same day without any complications or issues. Veneers is truly a keep when it comes to your teeth and i will not be leaving any time soon. The dentist also has a varitey of treatments more then most dentists i have seen. Thank you Veneers!! I finally can stop hunting for the best because you are the best!.
