What to do after an extraction!
Once you have a tooth removed, please follow the steps below:
- Limit exercise and take it easy.
- Keep your head up straight to avoid excess bleeding.
- Until the anaesthetic wears off, avoid eating or drinking hot foods and beverages, as you may accidentally burn yourself while still numb.
- After 24 hours, rinse your mouth regularly with salt water rinses.
- Continue to brush your teeth twice daily, being careful around the extraction area.
- You can take painkillers, but avoid aspirin-based tablets because they thin the blood and may cause excessive bleeding.
- If you remain in pain after a few days, schedule a dental appointment as you may have an infection (commonly known as dry socket).

Don't feel embarrassed or scared-this practice will treat you as if you are family-you will be fine! I have changed to The Dentist and wont look back. And no it didn't hurt.

Dentist and assistant arrived on time to treat my wife who sadly suffers from dementia and is unable to communicate to dentist fully.

The service they gave was nothing short of wonderful. As patients partner, I was involved in the process of a 3 tooth removal process. Dentist explained the process, the techniques, apparatus used, how the treatment was administered and all aspects of aftercare.
Both Dentist and assistant talked and encouraged wife in a calm and professional way, held her hand to calm her.
Dentist only proceeded when gum area was completely numb so extractions could proceed.
All 3 extractions proceeded in a calm and professional manner.
I can only say a big thank you to Dentist and assistant who really put myself at ease with the whole process.
Communication from their Birmingham centre was excellent, and, although I was in the Liverpool area for treatment, there were no communication glitches.
I can thoroughly recommend the homevisit way of providing dental services for the more vulnerable and mobility problems of patients.

We had a dental home visit for my invalid partner who needed the root of a broken tooth removed. Given her age and condition, I was very anxious. In fact, everything went completely smoothly. The dentist (& team) were good listeners, gave good clear answers with time to think. I said at the time how reassuring they had been from the very start - the risks were explained but in perspective. My partner was quite calm and cooperative - I had been worried that she might suffer from shock but she has been fine. Phew! What a relief!
